Nowadays, we all lead busy lifestyles. We’re very stressed at work, we’re constantly busy and we’re spending many hours facing the computer or the television, acquiring bad postures that end up by affecting our vertebrae considerably. In this article, we’re going to discuss about a condition called kyphosis or commonly referred to as “the dowager’s hump”. The dowager’s hump represents an excessive stretching of the ligaments in the spine combined with pressure on the bones in the same area. So, when this condition is combined with the poor posture that we adopted for a long time, a lump-shaped hump appears at the top of the back, which later leads to the formation of a curve where it accumulates fat.
What do we do to eliminate the kyphosis?
The dowager’s hump is known to affect more women and it definitely affects their physical appearance in a negative way. One cause is that it can appear is because of obesity. The dowager’s hump appears gradually, but we can also reverse it in the same way. In this article, we’re going to present you some exercises that you can do in only 5 minutes a day!
Circular movements of the shoulders
Point with your foot and straighten your back. Your arms should be hanging at each side of the body. Move the shoulders using circular motions for 5 minutes. You can do it first with one of the shoulders and then follow with the other one.
Stretch your arms and legs
Make a posture of crawling keeping your knees and hands parallel. Raise your left arm and right leg for 10 seconds and do the same thing with the other arm and the other leg. Repeat this exercise at least 20 times a day.
Note: These exercises will also help you stretch your muscles so that you can strengthen them effectively! You’ll notice the positive results in a very short time! The dowager’s hump will definitely decrease!
